Champalou
Domaine Champalou farms twenty-one hectares of vineyards on clay and limestone terroir. The family, headed by Catherine and Didier Champalou, embraces sustainable farming while also integrating the use of the lunar calendar, a method more traditionally associated with organic viticulture. The soils in their vineyards are rich and deep, allowing for wines of great elegance and tenderness; highly aromatic and with impeccable balance. No other Loire producer comes close to copying their distinct style.
Champalou 2003 Vouvray Trie de Vendange
Honey, brown sugar and baked pear form a concentrated, deeply inviting profile. Luscious sweetness gives the palate breadth, while fresh acidity keeps the texture balanced and remarkably clear. Generous and mature without feeling tired, it carries orchard fruit and caramelized depth through a long finish that pairs beautifully with blue cheese or fruit-based cakes.
Champalou 2015 Vouvray La Moelleuse
Gently sweet and supple, this late-harvest Chenin carries generous orchard fruit through a rounded, silky palate. Mouthwatering acidity cuts cleanly through the richness, bringing freshness and balance to the lingering finish. Expressive without becoming heavy, it is well suited to fruit desserts, blue cheese, foie gras or a quiet glass after dinner.
Champalou Brut Vouvray NV
A finely judged Loire sparkling wine with green apple, pear, citrus zest and white flowers, followed by hints of brioche and almond. The palate combines bright Chenin Blanc acidity with a delicate mousse and a lightly creamy texture. Chalky, dry and persistent on the finish, it is equally comfortable as an aperitif or alongside oysters, soft cheese and lightly dressed seafood.
Champalou 2023 Vouvray Sec
White acacia blossom opens into green apple, pear and quince, with a quiet note of honeyed wax and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied and dry, balancing fruit expression with fresh acidity and a long, clean finish. Detailed yet unforced, it works equally well as an aperitif or alongside grilled trout, pork, rice dishes or fresh cheeses.
Champalou 2022 Vouvray Les Fondraux
Ripe Chenin Blanc fruit opens with gentle honeyed roundness, giving the palate concentration and fullness without heaviness. White-flower freshness and flinty minerality keep the sweetness precise, while a velvety texture carries cleanly into a brisk finish. Elegant and versatile, it works beautifully with pâté, mild curry or creamy cheeses.
