AboutChâteau du Champ du Moulin
Michel Liessi created his own estate in 1991 after managing vineyards in regions as varied as Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Mercurey, Chablis and Sauternes. For years he delivered the crop to a cooperative; in 2013 he completed his own cellar and brought vinification home to the property. The ten-hectare vineyard lies at Fossès-et-Baleyssac on the right bank of the Garonne, about seventy kilometres southeast of Bordeaux, over varied clay-limestone soils.
Conversion to organic farming began in 2000, with certification following in 2013. Composts, herbal preparations and light cultivation are used with attention to lunar cycles, while the surrounding habitat is encouraged to support beneficial wildlife.
Château du Champ du Moulin 2019 Bordeaux Supérieur
A seductive Bordeaux blend with plum, blackberry and savoury herbs, accented by subtle oak spice. The palate is balanced and fruit-filled, with ripe tannins giving the dark fruit a smooth, composed frame. Approachable with a little air, it is well matched with roast beef, grilled lamb, mushrooms or firm cheese.
