Chahut et Prodiges
AboutChahut et Prodiges
After studying history and working in journalism and marketing, Grégory Leclerc found his way to wine through the Loire’s natural-wine growers. He established Chahut et Prodiges in 2007 on 6.5 hectares at Chargé, in the hills near Amboise. He grows Chenin, Sauvignon, Gamay, Côt and Grolleau.
The vineyards have been farmed organically from the start, with soil cultivation and efforts to reduce copper treatments. Clay-limestone soils predominate, with clay and flint beneath the old Grolleau vines and silt in the Chenin parcels.
Chahut et Prodiges 2019 Coup de Canon
French Red
Purple-red colour accompanies anise, violet and prune. The profile includes a faintly crisp opening, berry character, tannin and acidity. Grolleau comes from ninety-year-old vines on clay-flint soil. Whole clusters macerate in concrete and are pressed; fermentation and maturation take place in fibreglass tank. The cuvée is a red Vin de France from the Loire Valley and is bottled without added sulphur.
