AboutCeller Escoda-Sanahuja
Joan Ramon Escoda and Mari Carme Sanahuja founded their winery in 1999 at Prenafeta, near Montblanc in Conca de Barberà. Joan Ramon began making wines without added sulphites in 2005 and later helped establish the PVN natural-wine association.
The eleven-hectare mixed farm includes vines, olives and almonds, with a garden and livestock providing material for compost. Biodynamic farming and permanent ground cover guide the work in the vineyards. Fermentation uses native yeasts, and the wines are bottled without filtration.
Celler Escoda-Sanahuja 2019 Nas del Gegant Red 1.5 L
Strawberry, raspberry and cherry lead, with plum and darker berry fruit adding depth. Earth, leather and mineral notes give the aromas a savoury edge, while pepper, thyme and a touch of white pepper bring lift. The palate is dry and energetic, with a firm but balanced shape. Red fruit returns on the finish alongside earthy detail and gentle spice.
Escoda-Sanahuja 2024 Els Bassotets
Ripe peach and orchard fruit lead, with honey and white flowers adding aromatic warmth. The palate is dry, fresh and textural, carrying generous fruit through lively acidity and gentle skin-contact grip to a savoury finish. Serve lightly chilled with roast squash, richer fish, hard cheese or warmly spiced vegetable dishes.
Celler Escoda-Sanahuja 2018 La Llopetera
Red cherry and wild strawberry meet cracked pepper, dried herbs and a softly earthy note. The palate is light on its feet yet savoury and textured, with bright acidity, fine grip and subtle oak framing the fruit. Serve slightly cool with grilled vegetables, roast poultry, charcuterie or mushroom dishes.
