AboutCastello La Leccia
Castello La Leccia appears in a document from 1077, recording the purchase of part of the fortified site above Castellina in Chianti. The Daddi family restored the estate after buying it in 1920; the Sonderegger family took over in 2018.
Five vineyard sites surround the castle at 300 to 500 metres, on south- and southwest-facing slopes with clay and limestone-rich soils. Barley, mustard and clover grow between the rows, and compost made from grape skins and stems replenishes organic matter in the soil. Each site is vinified separately, with Sangiovese leading the plantings alongside smaller parcels of Malvasia Nera and Syrah.

Savoury and meaty aromas meet dried fruit and spice. Ripe black plum, bramble and bright red cherry appear with supple, structured tannins, acidity and a full finish. The blend uses Sangiovese, Malvasia Nera, Syrah and Ciliegiolo. Grapes are harvested by hand in September, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation and seven days of skin maceration. Maturation lasts six months in concrete.
