Castello di Amorosa
AboutCastello di Amorosa
Dario Sattui’s fascination with medieval architecture led him to build Castello di Amorosa, a working winery modelled on a Tuscan castle near Calistoga in Napa Valley. He bought the property in 1993, began construction in 1994 and opened the winery in 2007, using traditional masonry, hand-worked stone and reclaimed European materials.
Dario is a fourth-generation vintner and great-grandson of Vittorio Sattui; his winery makes wines from estate vineyards and selected sites across Napa and other coastal parts of California. Sangiovese, Barbera and Pinot Grigio share the range with Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

American Red
Pipe tobacco, blackberry and smoke lead the documented nose, while raspberry gives way to blackberry on the finish. Earth, dark chocolate, oak and black licorice add depth, with clove, white pepper, cherry, cedar and anise providing further detail. The palate is described as velvety, with dark fruit. The recorded blend combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Merlot.
