AboutCarlania Celler
In Barberà de la Conca, Sònia Gomà-Camps and Jordi Miró began making wine from their family vineyards in 2007, later adapting an old farm building as a cellar. The estate remains small and family-run, rooted in the calcareous-clay country of Catalonia’s Conca de Barberà.
Trepat, the region’s native red grape, is Carlania’s focus, grown alongside Macabeu in vineyards between 400 and 500 metres. The vineyards are certified organic and farmed biodynamically, and the grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation proceeds without added yeast or enzymes, and the wines are neither fined nor filtered.
Carlania Celler 2018 El Petit Carlania
This light, fluid Trepat red comes from Conca de Barbera and organically and biodynamically farmed fruit. The wine is unsulphured and presented as natural. Pomegranate colour accompanies floral and fruity aromas, spice and blueberry. The palate is fresh, fruity and spicy, with a dry finish. The vines grow above four hundred metres and are more than fifty years old.
