AboutCaparzo
Caparzo began in the late 1960s, when a group of friends restored an old Montalcino property and replanted its vineyards. Its first Brunello was the 1970 vintage; in 1977, Vigna La Casa became one of Montalcino’s early single-vineyard wines. Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini acquired the estate in 1998 and renewed its vineyards and cellar.
Sangiovese from sites across the appellation brings different soils, exposures and microclimates into the estate’s classic Brunello. Large casks remain central to its classic Brunello and Rosso wines, with an underground cellar providing space for ageing.
