Cafaggio’s written history reaches back to 1408, when the Panzano property appeared in estate records as Cahago, an enclosed cultivated field. Cafaggio took on its present shape from 1967, when the Farkas family restored the neglected cellars and replanted vineyards and olive groves; ISA acquired the estate in 2016. Today its vineyards occupy roughly half of a 60-hectare property in the Conca d’Oro, with olive groves and woodland completing the landscape.
The winery has been managed organically since 2014. Clay and marl-rich soils, varied exposures and the estate’s Panzano setting give Sangiovese a clear point of origin. For the core Chianti Classico wines, official technical records describe hand harvesting, controlled fermentation and patient maturation in large Slavonian oak, a restrained approach that keeps the estate’s Tuscan character in view.

Italian Red
Violet, underbrush and baking spice meet red cherry and clove. Orange zest is also present. The palate is smooth, with polished tannins. Made entirely from Sangiovese grown in Panzano’s Conca d’Oro, the wine is fermented under controlled temperatures and completes malolactic fermentation naturally. Twelve months in Slavonian oak are followed by three months in bottle. The wine is organic.

Italian Red
Violet, underbrush and baking spice appear with red cherry, clove and orange zest. The palate is juicy and easygoing, with smooth, polished tannins. Sangiovese is grown on south-, southeast- and southwest-facing sites around 320 metres, on well-drained clay-loam soils derived from calcareous sandstone. The grapes are harvested by hand. The wine spends twelve months in large Slavonian oak casks, another twelve months in concrete tanks and three months in bottle.
