Tom Bulleit founded the Bulleit Distilling Company in 1987, reviving his family’s high-rye whiskey recipe. That rye-led, spicy style became popular with bartenders, and a straight rye whiskey joined the range in 2011.
A new distillery opened in Shelbyville, Kentucky, in 2017, followed by additional production at Lebanon, Kentucky, in 2021. The Lebanon facility uses renewable electricity to power its boilers and production equipment.

Rich oak and warm spice lead the nose, joined by orange peel and a measured thread of vanilla. The palate is notably smooth, with rye spice giving shape to softer notes of honey and toasted wood. A clean, dry structure keeps the sweetness controlled, while citrus zest brings lift through the middle. The finish is steady and warming, returning to oak, vanilla and peppery grain. Serve neat, over ice, or in a Manhattan where its rye-led character can remain clear.
