AboutBodegas Salentein

When Dutch entrepreneur Mijndert Pon arrived in Mendoza’s Uco Valley in 1996, he envisioned a winery that could pair high-altitude viticulture with art and architecture. Salentein’s vineyards lie between roughly 1,050 and 1,700 metres, spanning several microclimates.

The cross-shaped winery sits at about 1,200 metres, with gravity carrying wine from the tank level to the underground barrel cellar. Native desert habitat has been preserved around the winery, beside Killka, the estate’s cultural centre with Argentine and European art, gardens and a restaurant.

Portillo 2024 Malbec

Argentinian Red
$19.99
Plum, blackberry and black cherry lead this polished Malbec, with redcurrant adding freshness and cinnamon and clove bringing gentle spice. The palate is fruit-forward and balanced, framed by round tannins and lively natural acidity. A long, clean finish keeps the wine composed and versatile. Serve with grilled beef, roast lamb, hearty pasta, mushroom dishes or firm cheese.
