Bodegas Portia

Portia began with the Faustino family’s move into Ribera del Duero in the 1990s, when it acquired and planted sites around Roa, Gumiel de Izán, Villanueva and Gumiel de Mercado. Those vineyards produced the first Portia wine in 2003.

Foster & Partners worked with Familia Martínez Zabala’s technical team to design the three-winged winery at Gumiel de Izán, arranging the stages of winemaking around a central hub. The barrel and bottle halls extend into the hillside to help moderate temperature changes.
