AboutBodega del Monge-Garbati

Bodega del Monge-Garbati is the small family winery Eduardo Monge and Lorena Garbati founded in 2004 at San Vicente de la Sonsierra. Both came from generations of local growers, and the vines they now work include parcels planted by their grandparents on the slopes beneath Mount Toloño. Viña Ane, the name carried by the wines, honours their daughter.

The winery sits where cold air from the Sierra de Cantabria meets the warm Rioja sun. Eduardo and Lorena thin and select fruit repeatedly in the vineyard, aiming for wines in which fruit and site take precedence over oak. A century-old mixed vineyard beside the bodega preserves historic white and red varieties.

Viña Ane 2019 Autor Eduardo Monge Rioja 1.5 L

Spanish Red
$99.99
Perfumed raspberry and black cherry lead, sharpened by fine baking spice and cracked pepper. The palate is medium-bodied and composed, with an easy lift of acidity carrying the fruit through long, firm but polished tannins. Harmonious and finely judged, it finishes with lingering cherry, spice and quiet oak warmth rather than overt weight.
