AboutBodega El Esteco

El Esteco traces its roots to 1892, when the Michel brothers arrived from France and founded a winery in Cafayate, high in Salta’s Calchaquí Valleys. The colonial-style winery stands among old vineyards and mountains.

Its Cafayate vineyards sit above 1,700 metres, with stony alluvial soils, strong sunlight and a marked difference between daytime and night-time temperatures. The winery also works at Chañar Punco, where vineyards rise to about 2,000 metres. In the cellar, concrete vessels and stainless-steel tanks are used alongside French and American oak barrels.

Michel Torino 2019 Cuma Organic Cabernet Sauvignon

Argentinian Red
$18.99

Cassis and cranberry lead, joined by cedar, tobacco leaf, smoke and pepper. The palate is dry and fresh, with a lean, savoury frame, bright acidity and lightly chalky tannins. Herbal and earthy notes carry into the finish, giving this mature Cabernet a firm, traditional profile that works especially well alongside grilled beef or roasted mushrooms.
