AboutBittered Sling
Bittered Sling grew out of Lauren Mote’s Vancouver bar work and her collaboration with chef Jonathan Chovancek. After several years developing recipes together, the bartender-sommelier and chef launched their bitters in February 2012.
Made in British Columbia, the bitters use Canadian grain spirit, spring water and whole botanicals. The pair’s recipes are used to season food as well as cocktails and sparkling water. The name comes from an 1806 newspaper definition of a cocktail.
Bittered Sling Orange & Juniper Bitters 120 mL
Fresh orange peel and herbaceous juniper lead, sharpened by bright green cardamom and the clean bitterness of turmeric and cinchona bark. A few dashes bring aromatic lift and structure to gin, whisky, tequila, pisco, vermouth or sparkling water without overwhelming the base. It also works neatly in tea, cider, sparkling wine, hollandaise and citrus-led desserts.
Bittered Sling Cascade Celery Bitters
Savoury and floral, with a vivid green-herb profile built around celery, dill and caraway. Hops and chamomile add an aromatic lift, while angelica and dandelion provide a firm, clean bittering structure. A few dashes can bring freshness and definition to drinks based on whisky, tequila, mezcal, gin, vodka, sake or dry vermouth, and the herbal character also works naturally with briny, savoury flavours.
