AboutBibi Graetz

Artist and self-taught winemaker Bibi Graetz founded his winery on the hill of Fiesole above Florence in 2000. He sought out old, high-lying vineyards on stony soils, planted to native Tuscan grapes such as Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino. He also designs the wine labels.

In the Fiesole red-wine cellar, fermentation starts spontaneously in open-top barrels, with the grape skins punched down by hand. The whites draw on old Ansonica vineyards on Giglio, where the vines grow in granite-derived sand close to the sea.

Bibi Graetz 2019 Testamatta

Italian Red
$229.99
Black cherry and plum lead with violet, candied orange peel, sandalwood and a savoury earthy note. The palate is full yet precise, carrying layered red and dark fruit over polished, velvety tannins. Fresh acidity and a chalky mineral line keep the richness focused, while spice and dried herbs extend the finish. Decant before serving with grilled lamb, mushroom risotto, roast game or aged pecorino.
