Barkerville Brewing opened in Quesnel, British Columbia, in 2014. Founder Russ Ovans chose Quesnel as a practical base for a brewery inspired by the Cariboo Gold Rush. The name recalls Nicolas Cunio, who brewed beer in Barkerville in 1865. Erin Dale joined the opening team and later became head brewer and a shareholder.

Hazy and golden, this fresh pale ale is loaded with apricot, peach and tangerine aromas. The palate stays juicy and expressive while a light structure and gentle bitterness keep the fruit precise rather than heavy. Serve well chilled with grilled salmon, fried chicken, tacos, soft cheese or a citrus-dressed salad. Its bright finish makes it equally comfortable as an aperitif.
