AboutBarbanera

Barbanera began in 1938 with a wine business established by Altero and Maria Franceschini. Their son Luigi learned the trade on long journeys to Rome and other markets; in 1978 his sons Paolo and Marco inherited the enterprise and formed Enogest. Export to Germany followed in 1982, and the company adopted the Barbanera family name in 2007.

The winery is based near Cetona in the Valdichiana, beneath Monte Cetona, and works across several Italian regions. Italian Wine Brands acquired the Barbanera companies in 2022.

Italian White
$28.99

Clear straw-yellow colour introduces sour cherry, orange blossom, broom and quince. The palate is rich and mineral, with freshness, harmony, a lightly savoury character and a floral finish. Sangiovese is vinified as a white wine, with the fruit soft-pressed before cool fermentation and maturation in stainless steel. The wine contains twelve and a half percent alcohol.
