AboutBaettig

Vinos Baettig was created by longtime friends Francisco Baettig and Carlos de Carlos, whose Swiss great-grandparents settled around Traiguén and Purén in southern Chile. After several years studying the region’s soils and climate, they planted Viñedo Los Suizos in 2013 on a volcanic plateau between the Quino and Traiguén rivers. The project brought Francisco’s winemaking experience and Carlos’s international wine-business background together around Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Traiguén lies about 600 kilometres south of Santiago in Malleco, with abundant rainfall, low light and cool conditions that allow dry farming. Harvesting is done by hand, and fermentation uses indigenous yeasts. Extraction and oak use are restrained.

Baettig 2020 Selección de Parcelas Los Primos Pinot Noir

Chilean Red
$144.99

Cherry, pomegranate and wild strawberry open with violets, lavender and a subtle tobacco note. The palate is poised and finely structured, combining ripe red fruit with fresh acidity and a restrained savoury edge. The texture feels silky but not soft, giving the fruit measured tension. The finish is long and composed, leaving red berries, tea leaf, floral lift and gentle spice.
