AboutAncient Peaks
Ancient Peaks was created in 2005 by Doug Filipponi, Karl Wittstrom and Rob Rossi, three local friends whose families are rooted in winegrowing and ranching around Paso Robles. The name honours the Santa Lucia Mountains that frame their estate Margarita Vineyard. Just 14 miles from the Pacific, the vineyard is the only one in the Santa Margarita Ranch appellation and spans five soil types shaped by the area’s complex geology.
Margarita Vineyard is certified under the Sustainability in Practice program, with work extending from soil and water care to habitat protection.
Ancient Peaks 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles
Blueberry, plum and toasted oak meet graphite and black olive. A plump, juicy texture carries blackcurrant and fresh red berries, with roast coffee, anise, tobacco and mineral notes. Sleek acidity and smooth tannins shape the finish. Blackberry, black pepper, crushed rock, herbs, soy and peppercorn add a savoury dimension. The fruit comes from Santa Margarita Ranch in Paso Robles, and the wine is SIP Certified.
