AboutAbbaye de Lérins

Abbaye de Lérins stands on Île Saint-Honorat, just offshore from Cannes, where Honorat founded a monastic community in the early fifth century. The monks now cultivate eight hectares of island vineyard. They carry out the harvest, winemaking, ageing and bottling themselves.

The vineyard lies on limestone and dolomite bedrock, often covered by a shallow layer of red, clay-rich silt. The abbey makes red wines from Syrah.

Abbaye de Lérins 2014 Saint Honorat IGP Méditerranée

French Red
$49.99
Made entirely from Syrah, the wine is raised in casks that have already held one or two wines. The exact record describes an intense colour and a complex nose, with leather, spice, blackberry and blueberry. The palate is supple and rounded, while the tannins soften over time. Black fruit, savoury detail and gentle structure define the documented profile.
