Domaine Rebourgeon-Mure 2019 Volnay
French Red
Pinot Noir comes from two parcels, Les Pluchots and Les Lurets, at 245 metres on clay-limestone soil with south and southeast exposure. The wine has pulpy fruit, volume and a silky texture. Grapes are harvested by hand and fully destemmed. Maturation lasts fourteen to eighteen months, partly in new oak. The domaine works its soils mechanically without herbicide, and the village parcel blend draws on plantings established across several decades.

Fruit comes from five parcels planted with vines aged sixty years and older. Dense, complex aromas accompany a broad profile of darker fruit. The palate is more intense, with slight salinity and a little more structure. Fruit for this old-vine bottling was formerly blended into the domaine’s other village wine, whose vines range from thirty to sixty years of age.
Domaine Poulleau 2023 Volnay Pinot Noir

Deep cherry-red colour accompanies mushrooms, Asian spice and sous-bois. Dark cherry, earth, rhubarb and strawberry open in the glass, and the profile gains detail with air. The mature expression also shows beautiful colour, a pleasing structure and fine grain. The wine comes from Volnay in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune, where Pinot Noir forms the appellation's red wines.

The Pinot Noir comes from a site near the Pommard border and beside Clos des Ducs. Vines span plantings from the late 1950s to the mid-1970s and cover just under one hectare. Broad, sanguine fruit is accompanied by firm, elemental structure and a sense of elegance. The wine is rich, full-bodied and powerful, with a muscular middleweight profile and a slightly warm finish.
