Feudi di San Gregorio 2018 Taurasi
Sun-dried cherry, baked boysenberry and crushed violet appear in a dense, compact profile. The palate is full, with sticky tannins and a finish of bitter chocolate and espresso. Aglianico comes from vines fifteen to twenty years old at elevations up to 500 metres, on silty sand with volcanic layers. Maturation lasts eighteen months in French barriques. Pairings include ragù and grilled lamb.
Antonio Caggiano 2017 Taurasi Vigna Macchia dei Goti
Intense ruby colour appears with black forest fruits, liquorice, vanilla and red berries. The wine is vigorous, elegant, soft and warm, with sweet tannins, freshness and a very long finish. Made entirely from Aglianico grown on clay-limestone soils, the fruit is harvested by hand and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The vineyard sits within Taurasi in Campania.
