Red Mountain
McCrea Cellars 2003 Mourvèdre
American Red
Blackberry, tar, garrigue, woodsmoke and clove open into a dense, savoury palate. Mourvèdre from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard is supported by a small portion of Syrah, giving the wine fruit intensity, tannic structure and firm acidity. Dark fruit and roasted-game character carry through fine, dusty tannins. Only 190 cases were bottled from this small Red Mountain release.
Col Solare 2016 Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
American Red
Black cherry, currant, cinnamon and rose petal appear with vanilla and milk chocolate. Rich refined tannins accompany berry, dried-fruit and cocoa flavours. The blend is ninety-four percent Cabernet Sauvignon and six percent Cabernet Franc. The wine spent twenty-two months in entirely new French oak. Fruit came from three Red Mountain vineyards, and production totalled 5,962 cases.
Hedges Family Estate 2022 Red Mountain
American Red
Black raspberry and fig lead, layered with cocoa, rosemary, baking spice, toffee and vanilla. Full and lush on the palate, the wine combines generous fruit with a firm, grippy structure and bright acidity. The finish is savoury and composed, with mineral tension keeping the richness in balance. Serve with grilled lamb, braised beef, mushrooms or aged cheddar.
