This Malbec comes from Eagle and Plow Vineyard Block 23 in Horse Heaven Hills, Washington. It belongs to the Cross Border Collection, created after extreme cold caused a complete crop loss in Lightning Rock's British Columbia vineyards. The winery partnered with Washington growers and retained control of winemaking. Owner Ron Kubek transported the Washington fruit across the border to the Summerland winery.
Lightning Rock 2024 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Albariño
American White
Mineral character sits with Asian pear, stone fruit, spring blossoms and nougat. The palate is layered and creamy, with vibrant acidity and a long finish of ripe stone fruit. Grapes are gently pressed, settled for forty-eight hours and fermented naturally in concrete eggs. The wine undergoes full malolactic fermentation, spends six months in concrete, and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Lightning Rock 2024 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Counoise
American Red
Wild strawberry, raspberry, pepper spice, floral tones and a savoury edge appear in a light-bodied profile with lively acidity. Counoise from Coyote Canyon Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills was harvested on September ninth and fully destemmed. A spontaneous fourteen-day fermentation took place in open-top fermenters, followed by ten months in neutral oak. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
Double Canyon 2017 Horse Heaven Hills Cabernet Sauvignon
American Red
Blackberry, pie crust and baking vanilla accompany raspberry and light confectioners' sugar. Peach and raspberry also appear with juicy acidity and a lingering finish. The blend contains Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah. Fruit comes from Horse Heaven Hills in Washington's Columbia Valley. Scorched earth, barrel spice, graphite and dark cherry add further detail.
