1006 Vins de Loire 2021 Majorelle Grolleau Noir

Grolleau Noir comes from sixty-year-old vines planted in sandy clay and silt over sandstone and schist in Anjou. The fruit was harvested by hand and received carbonic maceration, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Maturation lasted six months in concrete tank. Winemaking took place at growers’ estates while the urban cellar was still under construction. The wine contains eleven percent alcohol.

About 1006 Vins de Loire
Winemaker Pauline Lair founded 1006 Vins de Loire in Angers in 2020, naming it for the Loire's 1,006-kilometre course. She works with growers along the river, following selected vineyard parcels through the growing season. The wines are labelled by grape and named for shades of blue. Lair ferments with native yeasts and little intervention, adapting her approach to each lot.
