Watermelon-candy fruit meets a fresh, rounded texture in this Pinot Gris, which includes a dash of Gewurztraminer. The fruit comes from Kelowna in British Columbia and is organically farmed. Natural fermentation follows five days of maceration, and élevage takes place in stainless steel. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with low sulfur and nothing else added.

About A Sunday in August
A Sunday in August is the family winery of Mike Shindler and Sammy, based on Salt Spring Island. Its wines begin with organically grown grapes from small farms in the Okanagan Valley, Saanich Peninsula and Salt Spring, often from growers using regenerative or biodynamic methods. In 2021 the pair bought a 20-acre island property. Most of it remains forest and meadow, with a little over three acres planted to vines and orchard.
Wine has been made on the estate since the 2023 vintage, following earlier years with purchased fruit and shared facilities. Fermentations are wild and harsh filtration is avoided; trace sulphur is the only addition.
