At full maturity, this is a restrained, old-school claret with dried rose, cedar, tobacco and cigar-box aromas over cassis and red cherry. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, with gentle earth, forest floor, leather and spice emerging as it opens. Stand the bottle upright, decant briefly for sediment and enjoy promptly with roast lamb or mushrooms.

About Château Lafite Rothschild
Château Lafite Rothschild was documented as a wine-producing property by 1234 and was ranked a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Baron James de Rothschild acquired the Pauillac estate in 1868, beginning more than 150 years of stewardship by successive family generations. Saskia de Rothschild became chairwoman of Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 2018, representing the sixth generation. The vineyard’s gravel and clay regulate water around a subtle rise known historically as La Hite, while the grand vin is matured in French oak made by the group’s own Pauillac cooperage.
