About Veuve Clicquot
Veuve Clicquot was founded in Reims in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot. Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin took charge in 1805 at the age of 27 and made experimentation part of the house's identity. Her milestones included vintage Champagne in 1810, the riddling table in 1816 and blended rosé in 1818.
The yellow label followed as a registered trademark in 1877, forming its enduring visual signature. The house matures its wines in chalk cellars beneath Reims. Wines from different grape varieties and growing areas are made separately, then tasted for blends, reserves or vintage Champagnes. Yellow Label combines around fifty crus with a substantial reserve-wine component, while La Grande Dame is a vintage tribute to Madame Clicquot.
