About Esterházy
Esterházy's wine history in Burgenland reaches back to 1612, with cellar records surviving from 1758 and a modern winery at Trausdorf near the Leitha Mountains. The winery draws on vineyards close to the cellar, with shell-limestone and mica-schist soils, and harvests by hand. The vineyards are farmed without irrigation, using organic compost.
The cellar uses egg-shaped concrete tanks made with basalt from Pauliberg. The Gustav Klimt 'The Kiss' labels come from a partnership with Vienna's Belvedere Museum.
