Springfield 2016 Meth Ancienne Cabernet
$89.99Thirty-five years ago, Springfeld cleared a 2.8-hectare triangle of land previously ignored because it was not ‘good’ enough – “too rocky and too steep”.
Cabernet Sauvignon was planted, struggling at first with virtually no soil. The miracle was in the fruit: tiny berries – intense in colour and flavour, this meagre crop was vinified in the traditional way. No crushing of berries, native yeast only, no fining and no filters.
Wine was made with little intervention and kept for two years in new French barriques. After three more years of maturation in bottle, Springfield releases their top wine. It is a piece of their history, their passion and labour. It is their finest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, and will age effortlessly for another two decades.
Taylor Fladgate 2009 Vintage Port 375Ml
$89.99Inky black with purple rim. A nose of great purity opening on a vigorous note of concentrated black woodland fruit laced with raspberry and plum. Around this dense fruity core, with its attractive vibrancy and minerality, is a fragrant and complex aura of citrus fruit blossom and wild herbal scents of mint and lavender. Supported by a tight warp of thick sinewy tannins, the palate explodes with concentrated ripe black fruit flavour which surges into the long finish before being gripped in a tight tannic embrace.
Elena Italian Gin
$88.99Elena Italian gin is a spirit of regional provenance and features native botanicals from the Italian Alps of Piedmont including juniper berries, almonds, Langhe thyme, coriander seeds, black elderflower, Angelica, wild mint, chamomile, cassia bark, and the peel and flowers of organically-grown citrus fruits from the Ligurian hills bordering Piedmont. Juniper dominates the profile here. The palate is silky yet weightless.
Grosbois 2020 Clos Du Noyer Chinon
$88.99An intriguing nose – reminiscent of wild herbs and wormwood alongside its succulent red fruit flavors and light floral note. As always at Grosbois, the tannins are well handled – coating the palate with a chocolate powder-like texture. Incredibly satisfying.
