Springfield 2021 Thunderchild

$36.99

34% Cabernet Franc | 33% Cabernet Sauvignon | 33% Merlot

This classical blend was created by using the ancient technique of fermenting uncrushed berries with native yeast from the grapes. After aging for one year in French barrels, it was bottled without fining or filtration. A further 12 months of bottle aging took place prior to release.

100% of the profits from this wine are donated to the Die Herberg charity which provides aid to children from broken homes.

Springfield 2019 Whole Berry Cabernet Sauvignon

$44.99

Springfield adopts a minimal-intervention approach in making its Whole Berry Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine takes its name, ‘Whole Berry’ from its vinification – with grapes macerated whole, then fermented with natural yeasts, racked, and finally matured in French oak for one year. The wine has a velvety-smooth texture with soft tannins and typical Cabernet Sauvignon notes of red fruits and hints of cedar. A tremendous bottle of Cabernet for the price.

Springfield 2016 Meth Ancienne Cabernet

$89.99

Thirty-five years ago, Springfeld cleared a 2.8-hectare triangle of land previously ignored because it was not ‘good’ enough – “too rocky and too steep”.

Cabernet Sauvignon was planted, struggling at first with virtually no soil. The miracle was in the fruit: tiny berries – intense in colour and flavour, this meagre crop was vinified in the traditional way. No crushing of berries, native yeast only, no fining and no filters.

Wine was made with little intervention and kept for two years in new French barriques. After three more years of maturation in bottle, Springfield releases their top wine. It is a piece of their history, their passion and labour. It is their finest expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, and will age effortlessly for another two decades.

Giordano Lombardo 2022 Gavi Di Gavi

$32.99

Giordano Lombardo is one of the rare few Biodynamic producers in Gavi in Italian region of Piedmont. The nose is wide, delicate, and elegant, yet intense. Traces of fresh hay and acacia flowers and a light minerality. The palate is harmonic, fresh, and supple with a long and palatable finish.

Taylor Fladgate 1994 Vintage Port

$424.99

Deep crimson just beginning to display some maturity on the rim. The explosive fruitiness of early youth is now more restrained as the wine begins to settle into maturity but the nose is still driven by impressive focused blackberry and blackcurrant aromas set off by the classic Taylor scent of violets. Full bodied and well structured palate delivering rich blackberry and cassis flavours with spicy, figgy, liquorice flavours evolving on the long and sumptuous finish.

Taylor Fladgate 1970 Vintage Port

$449.99

A deep garnet core with a faded brick rim. The nose is still tight, youthful with notes of liquorice, raisin, boot-polish and a little lemongrass. Very well defined. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, very cohesive with superb ripeness: wild strawberry, lemongrass, smoke and dates with an incredibly long, persistent finish. There is an effortless nature to this wine.

Croft 1963 Vintage Port

$499.99

Has great elegance and harmony, and should continue to improve for many years. Medium ruby-red with very fresh plum aromas, medium-bodied, with very delicate fresh fruit flavours, lively acidity, and a delicate finish.
