Gravieres Saint Emilion 2018
96 Points Robert Parker: Made from 100% Merlot, the 2018 Les Gravieres is deep garnet-purple and rocks up with gregarious blueberry pie, chocolate-covered cherries and plum preserves scents with nuances of violets, spice cake and mocha. Big, full and decadently fruited, it has a firm frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and wonderful freshness, finishing very long and layered.
92 Points James Suckling: A solid 2018 with dark-berry, dark-chocolate and cedar character. Medium to full body. Flavorful finish.

Collemattoni Adone Toscana IGT 2019
$31.99
95% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot. A knockout at its price point. Enjoyable now, with the addition of Merlot increasing the suppleness of the fruit and palate. Delicate aromatics of red fruits, underbrush, truffles, violet petals, and spices spring from the glass. Sleek and polished, with some mocha and gentle herbal notes adding to the palate.

Barolo produced here is best described as “warm-hearted”. Michele’s Barolo Ascheri comes from the classic chalky soils of La Morra about 250 meters up the steep hillside, inter-planted with several types of grasses and beans to aid biodiversity and soil structure. The resulting wine has an enticing nose of flowers, ripe strawberries and dark cherries, and a good mouthful of plummy ripe elegant fruit. This deceptively mid-weight Barolo has a ton to offer.
