Champagne Fleury has been around since 1895, releasing their first bubbly in 1929. The vineyards themselves are located on steep slopes that have a calcareous clay soil and see ample amounts of sun, so the grapes have an outstanding ripeness. Continental and oceanic climates combine for cool mornings and nice bursts of heat in the afternoons. Fleury was one of the first vineyards to start converting to biodynamics, beginning in 1989, completing the process for all of their vineyards by 1992. This year Fleury celebrates 25 years of Biodynamic winemaking. Jean-Pierre Fleury can be crowned pioneer in Champagne when it comes to biodynamic viticulture.

Fleury Rosé Brut
$116.99
Jean-Pierre Fleury is something of a master craftsman when it comes to making Pinot Noir dominated Champagne. Again the style here owes as much to Burgundy as it does to the grand marques of Champagne.
100% Pinot Noir made by maceration with all of the skins in contact with all of the juice. Most rosés made in this style are very big, but this one is the exception; it is very elegant. In the glass it has a wonderful, fresh Pinot Noir nose of strawberry fruit and forest air intrigue. Richly textured palate with impressive depth and terroir.

Serge Mathieu Brut Millesime 2009
$124.99
It has structure, power and length, and bears the mark of its Pinot Noir. It clearly shows all the work that has been carried out in the vineyards since only very ripe and small grapes can produce such density and structure in a Champagne. 8.6 grams dosage.
Entirely made from Pinot Noir… clear, fresh and straight fruit of yellow skinned apples and Williams pears along with citrus flavors and some stony notes on the nose. This is remarkably elegant and delicate with a mineral backbone and an excellent grippy finish.

This is a real deal Champagne from Courteron, a village in the Aube department of Champagne, closer to Chablis than to Reims! Fleury’s methods are as Burgundian as their location. The assemblage of several Pinot Noir vines from different years results in a very expressive and intense Champagne.
Fruity and delicate, this very elegant and long-lasting Champagne is classic, smooth and quite rich in style. It is the most exciting all Pinot Noir Blanc de Noir we import. The dosage is very low-- one of the driest Champagnes we have - with a wonderful black cherry fruit quality that reminds us that it is all Pinot. A long and refreshing Champagne that exudes class!
